Is private therapy better than other therapy? / why should I pay for therapy?
Just because you choose to pay for therapy does not mean it will necessarily be better than treatment you don't spend extra money on. But, paying for therapy can sometimes mean you have more choice about your treatment.
An independent therapist is not limited or restricted by referral criteria or limitations of what a Service is funded or commissioned to provide. As an Independent therapist Lizzie Brown is able to provide the speech therapy that you feel you need, providing it is within her skills, knowledge and experience, and that it is ethical to do so. Lizzie will maintain an honest, open and clear relationship with clients and family members from the outset and during any course of therapy.
Governed by the HCPC and being a Registered Member of the RCSLT Lizzie has a professional and legal responsibilty to work within her clinical competencies, adhere to the standards of practise and code of ethics, and to ensure she upholds the required duty of care for the clients she sees.
Is information I share with you confidential?
Yes information you share is confidential. I will make it clear on initial discussion that I have a professional duty of care to the client, and that if I perceive that a client is at risk of harm then I have a legal obligation to inform the clients GP and Social Care Services.
Different opinions of private and other therapist...
I think I can get better, but the therapist feels they have done all they can...
Therapists have a variety of skills and experience, none are the same! Second and third opinions can be helpful! As they can give other perspectives, or re-affirm what you may have already been told. If it was my relative I would want to know I've tried all I can to help them.
